Abril is co-founder of Women Who Futures, a global initiative that brings together diverse women to collaborate on futures-oriented projects. Her work focuses on integrating decolonial perspectives, intersectionality, combining creative processes with futures methodologies to challenge dominant narratives and promote more equitable, inclusive futures.
Abril is dedicated to fostering intercultural collaboration and shared knowledge across different using community building. She have partnered with international organizations and academic institutions to design strategic projects that address pressing global challenges, emphasizing the inclusion of voices from the Global Majority.
Abril has been awarded the Second Futures Research Grant for her project 'Futures of the Circular Economy in Mexico City' by the World Futures Studies Federation and the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Center for Futuristic Studies, a 2022 Honorable Mention from the APF for 'Nuestros Futuros: Chile al 2050,' and most recently, she won the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Speculative Futures Competition with the piece "Tiniest Soul."
