Currently, I am the capacity development lead at UNOSAT flagship project, designing the capacity development framework and rescoping methodology, coordinating rescoping activities and trainings on 8 countries in Asia-Pacific and Africa, with focus on Disaster Risk Management, Climate Resilience, and Sustainable Land Management. Previously, I coordinated UNOSAT courses on GIT for Disaster Risk Reduction with focus on national government and academia in Fiji, Vanuatu, and Solomon Islands. The courses are part of the CommonSensing Project (see more information below). I supported the team to implement, among other activities, 3 blended learning week-long trainings, one blended learning regional course, and one training of trainers. Main tasks: Coordinating implementation, liaising with partners, developing training agenda and materials, supporting facilitators/instructors, facilitating sessions, assessing learning needs, writing project reports, and providing inputs for knowledge sustainability. Regular use of QGIS, ArcGIS, Articulate Storyline, and Moodle. The CommonSensing (CS) project led by UNITAR-UNOSAT, was created with the aim to improve resilience to climate change, including disaster risk reduction, and to contribute to sustainable development in three Commonwealth Pacific island countries: Fiji, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. The project aims at developing satellite-based information services that will directly match challenges and needs to support the three nations in their goals to strengthen capacity to access climate finance and report on climate funds; strengthen national and regional climate action policy; and reduce the impact and improved risk management of natural disasters and food security. Areas of interest: Capacity Development, Urban Planning, Participatory Planning Processes (IAP2), Strategic Foresight, Disaster Risk Reduction, Affordable Housing, Land Use & Informal Settlements My passion is to facilitate processes of collective inquiry and action: provoking people to learn from their experiences, conceive inclusive shared futures, and transform needs and dreams into practical action. I work as a Capacity Development Expert at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. I was awarded the Joseph Jaworski Next Generation Foresight Practitioners South America Special Award (2018), the Global Millennium Prize on Sustainable Development (2007), the Outstanding Capstone Award for a Thesis (2018), and finalist of the competition “Closing the Loop: Feedback for Results” (2014). I started a NGO in Brazil and completed my Master’s Degree in Urban Planning at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
