Jimena Califa

Individual Argentina, Latin America and the Caribbean

Jimena is a Strategic Foresight practitioner aiming to make foresight accessible by following a Service Design approach. She has a degree in Industrial Design and is a certified Strategic Designer from the Copenhagen Institute for Future Studies.


As an independent consultant at EXT, a Strategic Foresight consultancy firm, she helps decision-makers from diverse industries to shape sustainable strategies through futures thinking, providing tailored consultancy services to design and co-implement foresight projects and build future thinking capacities.


Her experience spans both the public and private sectors, including multilateral organizations, like UN Global Pulse where she co-created different approaches to integrate and contextualize foresight into the UN System by designing and facilitating tailored experiments, educational programs, guidelines, and methods.


Striving to democratize foresight, she co-authored the book ‘Exploring Futures’ and the guide ‘Ayer, Mañana y Hoy’ two different futures thinking open-source methodologies. She led foresight educational programs and research projects in academia. She is an invited lecturer at diverse universities.


She participated in various transdisciplinary projects combining art, science, education and technology.

Exploring Futures

As part of @Extendidos, with Alejandro Repetto and Enrique Cortés Funes, we published an open-source book -in Spanish and English- with an engaging, entry-level Strategic Foresight and Futures Thinking methodology to invite more people and organizations to design their own futures. It was awarded by the School of International Futures in 2020.

Tejiendo Futuros

A set of tools to co-design a desired future, including a series guiding activities to invite citizens to co-create a positive future with their community. Co-developed as part of UN Global Pulse Foresight Team, with UNFPA, NDP unit of Colombian Government and Colombian youth leaders.

Ayer, Mañana y Hoy

Diseño de metodología y contenido de la guía, combinando prospectiva estratégica y diseño especulativo. Dirección metodológica del experimento que acompaña la guía: 2040, Argentina para armar, en colaboración con El Gato y La Caja. Proyecto desarrollado en el marco del Laboratorio de Futuros de UdeSA, junto a Beatriz Sauret, Pablo Fernández Vallejo, María Spitaleri y equipo EGLC.
