For the last 18 years Chris has worked across industrial, service and strategic design in the UK and New Zealand. In 2012 he brought the first MIT Fab Lab to Australasia at Massey University and hosted the International Fab Lab conference, with speakers from NASA, DARPA, ARUP and WETA Digital. Chris went on to launch the first Internet of Things (IoT) MeetUp in New Zealand in 2014. The aim of the MeetUp was to connect the technology, creative and business communities in Wellington and explore the emerging IoT landscape. In 2017 he introduced Workchops, a three-day immersive learning experience for innovators, strategists and designers. The first facilitators being the head of the UK Policy Lab, Andrea Siodmok and co-design luminary, Liz Sanders, from the United States. Chris was Service Innovation Director at leading New Zealand customer experience agency, DNA, where he specialised in strategic innovation for clients including Z Energy, Kiwibank and The Ministry for Primary Industries. He has trained in the Cynefin framework and Anthrocomplexity with Dave Snowden, Co-Design with Liz Sanders, International Fieldwork Studies with Jan Chipchase and as a Strategic Foresight Practitioner with Institute of the Future (IFTF) in Palo Alto, California. Chris has won 23 individual and team awards across a variety of design and research projects.
