I lead foresight initiatives in the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). National level public health foresight activities were started with the Chief Public Health Officer of Canada, Dr. David Butler-Jones and I in 2007 to better prepare for and understand changing public health risks. Since then I have continued to advance foresight initiatives to address complex public and population health issues in Canada. Currently directing the Risk Analysis and Foresight Division within the Centre for Surveillance, Integrated Insights and Risk Assessment in the Data, Surveillance and Foresight Branch at the Agency. The last few years, my focus has been to utilize a variety of foresight methods and tools to better anticipate public health risks and develop the risk analysis program at PHAC. I have trained many students and employees across Canada in foresight and its application. My passion in foresight is to identify and apply optimal methods to address complex issues while building experts in this field.
